Notes to Myself
A Russian (name is Perumov, so to speak), during Communism, found himself so entranced with the Lord of the Rings saga, that he wrote his own sequel - as best as I can figure out. Since it would have been suppressed by the government, he kept it a secret. In other words, it is probably the first LotR fanfic ever written. Pages are here and here, but only in Russian. Use the Fish, or Google's translation page.

Hmm... involuntary celibacy... reminds me of my own life ;)

Eh.
Is that what it's ultimately about? Getting some versus not getting some?

I mean, it isn't like I don't think of it in those terms like anyone else, but is that the end-all?

Re: Eh.
I dunno. It don't think it's ABOUT anything. Or maybe it's ABOUT everything. Or whatever you want it to be. ::grins:: I like that last one. The only problem is dealing with people to whom it's all ABOUT something different than what it's all ABOUT for you.

Sometimes
the weight of the whole world seems to lean on that last sentence.

Yes? Maybe?

Re: Sometimes
I think everybody wants something different from relationships - for some people, getting some is important - other people don't care. It's important to not take the narrow view on this - kuro5hin is a website for (mostly) male geeks, so expect the patriarchal lingo to reign supreme.

No, certainly not. It was merely a question. Not being male, I was feeling a little ignorant.

There was a follow-up article that gave a solution to the 'problem'. The link is here.
