Quitting Smoking
Tomorrow will be two weeks without cigarettes. Despite the fact that this is about my 178th time quitting smoking, I seem to have forgotten that for the first month after you stop, you are REALLY DUMB. I'm sure there's a more technical name for it, but wow, do I feel dumb.

I haven't done anything dumb today, but it does explain my arithmetic battle yesterday at work.

You seemed as witty and cutting as you normally are at our party. That's not even an insult in disguise. Though after writing it, it sure sounds like one.

Not from you it doesn't
My problems are with BASIC MATH, not human interaction.

Which is to say my CURRENT QUITTING SMOKING PROBLEMS are related to basic math and reasoning. My usual human interaction problems still seem unaffected.

Doesn't everything you say sound like an insult in disguise?

I find that when quitting, substituting in something else to take the place of the old habit really helps. Like, when I was quitting cigarettes, I found that cigars were a great replacement. It was the easiest attempt at quitting I've ever done. Worked beautifully.

I thought you were a neuroscientist.

That's a better excuse for dumbness than many an alternative I've heard.
Strength brother! You can make it.

Congrats on the two week mark without cigarettes. Here's hoping that you can make this the last time you need to try quitting. Have you tried any of those patches and such? Seems like they might help, but never having smoked myself, I dunno for sure.

I am available for hire if you want. I've beaten 3 people into not smoking in the last 2 years. I work hard and fast, and make sure not to bruise you anywhere obvious.

I could also take you to the cancer ward with me some day, that made me quit smoking and I've never smoked.
