Information wants to be free/burned (insert Skynyrd pun here)
Desperately low on hard drive space.
Desperately overstocked on one-time optical media.
Desperately sure that it's all CD-R's.
Desperately not sure how to work the fscking tape drive.

Tantalus had it easy.

Suggestion: spend $50 on an external USB or firewire enclosure, pick up a 300+ gig drive from a major retailer or online for under $150.

Alternate suggestion: spend a bit more and get yourself a couple terabytes of RAID5 w/spares.

The last place in the Twin cities that sold the enclosures is out of business now (CompUSA). I still have a few - but I need to find out what's on them first. Really, I should just set up a RAID5 - there's no reason not to, other than money and time.

Your suggestion is winning right now.

Suggestion: Divest yourself of your material belongings.

Code key: "Divest yourself of your material belongings." is a phrase meaning "Set your computer on fire, throw it out the window while screaming, paint every inch of your skin in arcane symbols, then kill and eat a man with your bare hands. Then choke a bear just for fun."

Look, if you miss me, you can just say that.
