My first thought reading this comic is, "That's bullshit - the Coriolis effect is lost in the noise with the sensor grade you'd have in a game controller".

I think you would love the weather room at the Science Museum. There's a computer where you can play with the Coriolis effect and watch what happens to the wind when you do various things (adding high and low pressure systems, for instance). One of the things you can do is halt the rotation of the Earth. When you do that, this error message pops up:

"Warning. Non-rotating Earth may produce unrealistic winds."

Apparently, a non-rotating Earth isn't a problem for them. Just the unrealistic winds.
