On matters numismatic
I save a lot of change - it started when we began playing penny poker (which we've stopped doing a long time ago, and should start up again some time, because it's fun). I keep my pennies in an old peanut butter jar; nickels and dimes go in an old teriyaki sauce jar another, and quarters go in a different teriyaki sauce jar. When I was doing laundry one day, I got ever more bored than I already was, and I decided to see how many of each kind of state quarter I have. Turns out it was quite the diverse jar of quarters, and three Whitman coin folders later, I have a nigh-complete collection of U.S. State Quarters.

The only quarters I am missing are Philadelphia mint quarters from the following states: Vermont (2001), Maine (2003), Michigan (2004), Texas (2004), California (2005), Kansas (2005) (Thank you, Sinister Dr. X), North Dakota (2006), and South Dakota (2006). If you run into any of these and think you might bump into me, I will gladly exchange other quarters for them.

PS - Since I'm on vacation all of this week, I will post something more substantial later.

On Christmas my mom casually mentioned she'd been collecting the state quarters, and she was pretty sure she had all of them. I asked, "Really? Both mints?" And then she went insane.

I've got a jar you can check tonight.

I have Maine if you want it, although not sure when I'd see you.

Um, that's impressively bored.

My grandmother had been apparently saving state quarters for all her grandchildren that my mom disbursed to all of us as part her nutso campaign to get rid of all their stuff (because she's convinced they're going to die this year, and keeps saying so!) and so I've got a fair part of the collection. I'm missing some Philadelphia ones, and everything after 2003. Not interested in trading, just thought I'd mention the odd synchronicity.

I have two Philadelphia mint North Dakotas. Drop by and pick 'em up anytime's convenient.
