LJ Meme while I don't smoke
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Should it surprise you that I remember the first time I saw you in scrubs?

My memories are snipts of time. I have a memory of you wearing a pen around your neck (I always thought that was a bold fashion statement), your laugh, wondering where you got a flamingo wearing a sombrero as an icon, and you and Dr.X duking it out on SuDoKu.

Your subject heading combined with your request are making me think of an elephant when I'm not supposed to, metaphorically speaking.

Instead I give you visual representation of your meager human "memories".

Watching cemetary man with you before your death set, and subsequently thouroughly enjoying said death set and the quotes from said movie therin.

Hearing you and a gal discuss An Eternal Golden Braid on the front stoop of Devin's party.

Or when you had the unfolding/micro keypad that was brought to one of the dances.

You were outside Olin-Rice one morning as I was leaving to go to a lit class. You stopped me and gave me a book about writing for Christmas, one of many books you were just getting rid of during that period. I gave you a hug, and at that moment it began to snow.

The obvious one being your toast at Annie and I's wedding (the video of which we re-watched a few weeks ago), but that being a cop-out, I would opt for seeing you fucked up on the steps of Bigelow waiting for the ambulance to take you away the spring of 2000 to assist you with your stomach virus, and wishing that there was something I could do to help.

Oh, and I refuse to post the meme. *thbptp*

Too many memories, Doc.

I remember too much fun- hanging out, watching Futurama, eating beef and broccoli, playing video games, gaming, bringing you soup and crackers when you were sick and called me, talking in the street for an hour about writing, having you around at Fight Club, and drinking with you, Nemo, and Mas.

the only makeshift experiences I've had since are lighter-related, not receptacle related.

I remember being drunk off my ass for the second time in my life at the 21st birthday party in Chaos for you and Janine, sitting on the floor next to your chair while you told Cole that you couldn't think of a better birthday present than Dueling Banjos on her ass.

Also, the discussion we had with Lin-Z in Chaos during which you told us that "vagina" always sounded to you like it should be some sort of tropical animal.

And I remember you always gave great hugs.

First memory that comes to mind is asking you for help installing something when I happened to sit next to you in the Linux Lab after school.

I think I remember you at my house a few weekends ago, or something. Maybe there were some potato chips?

nerdy memory
that time i was logged in remotely to your machine from my room playing with centericq. you and slivey meanwhile were in your room getting annoyed because everytime i sent a message your computer would make that high-pitched "uh-oh" sound. be surprised if you remembered.

One time you were cooking supper and started humming to yourself, and the hum turned into you singing Johnny Cash songs. And then you stopped and apologized for no apparent reason.

More specifically, everyone talking about WoW and us being the only two dudes who were out of the loop.

Literally, at one point, if you recall.

Hey, hey, hey, remember in Craft of Poetry? When I was basically accused of writing a 'D&D' poem? But the only way Redmond made that leap is because I used the word "cleric" in the poem, and why would he associate that with D&D unless he too was a geek?

In that same vein, I remember a lot of half moments, outside the door to Carnegie, you with a cigarette and me standing on the sides of my feet.

There was that time me and my six buddies were trying to break into your headquarters, and you came out with your buddies all dressed in black, but I fucked your shit up. Again and again. You were fucking relentless.

I think it was outside The Source - Josiah was visiting, and he and I and you and Janos had gone to pick the pewter figurines Janos was going to paint for us. We asked you if you would do a toast at our wedding (which turned out to be the Best Wedding Toast Ever), and we were muchly happy. Woo.

I was in some dorm room of yours snooping around and I must have commented on the asymmetry of your arms or something, and you said, "Well, I do masturbate A LOT."

I remember you telling us about the dream you'd been having for the last several hours, the one about the scientists studying extracting Christmas cheer from mice, and how inefficient that was.... Right before or right after we took you to a hospital. gunn knew where it was, but I didn't, and I felt completely lost. I remember sweating a lot, and wondering what was wrong with you, and gunn telling me to pick a lane.

I remember you telling me about a bet after a wedding.

People ask me these things, but my mind does not work in this fashion. I do not think of events. I think of narratives. Your narrative is one of someone who's game to laugh at my dumbest jokes because you understand that I'm really, truly trying to be witty and amusing and that in and of itself amuses you. You're a guy with a great sense of humor and a good heart. A rare commodity indeed. Oh, and you laugh at jokes about using children as body armor. That's maybe rarer yet.

Fight club Cole's basement, you, the world, and I remember how damned cool you were. And are.

Most recently, you calling and me being cracked-out from hunger. Putting you (the phone) in my pocket while buying stuff for my Halloween costume.

First, I think, at a Macalester dance. I was perched quietly on the edge of a booth, I somehow ended up looking at you, you grinned and waved your hands 20's style, and I cracked up.
