Time's list of 100 Greatest Movies of All Time (article).

In contrast, IMDb's Top 250 Movies.

You can really tell the demographic of IMDb users by looking at that poll. Most likely the majority of people who voted in that are in their 20's or 30's at most.

The Time magazine one, on the other hand, is from people who are older and thus has more older movies in it. At least that's my guess as to the rationale of the movies listed in the two lists.

If you're refering to the top 250, then yeah, I'd agree with you. The movies are primarily guy movies.

So when you pick the Hitchcock movies to go on Time's list, you obviously go with Psycho and Notorious instead of Rear Winow, North by Northwest, and Rope....right?

But major props for Ikiru...

the imdb database one makes me feel embarrassed, and times was trying to seem smart but just threw back mainly american classics with a few foreign flicks thrown for whatever reason. yeah, americas film history has a bit more depth than other countries, but not to that degree.

i didnt see "my life as a dog" in the list. makes one sad
