H2G2 Was Good
Like every other H2G2 production, it was different from all the other ones (Radio [British|American], Book, Miniseries, etc.). It was not like the book, nor was it funny like the book. It was funny like itself, and that's the reason I fucking enjoyed the hell out of it.

I can't really tell you which parts of it you'll like, and which parts of it you won't like. I liked the whole thing -pizzicato strings of zooming particularly, as well as the musical number at the beginning. I didn't mind that it got into parts of the other books - there could still be another movie at this rate.

Let me sum up - if you still haven't seen it, I need to take you. There. Good Enough for Me™.

Don't trust reviews. They're so subjective that you're quite likely to have a different opion from the reviewer if you think differently.

I saw the headlines of a rather abysmal review myself but I just ignored it and went out and saw it. I wasn't disappointed, the Hitchhiker's Guide is a great movie.

I also liked it, and I was actually happy that the plotline was different, because like 15 minutes in I was starting to get concerned that I was going to know exactly what was going to happen the whole movie. Good stuff.

I agree, it's an awesome movie.

...but I have to take this time to say that I hate acronyms. I read an email on Thursday related to this and the person that wrote the email called it HHG. It probably took me twenty minutes before I realized what she meant. Yes, I know, it should have been obvious considering the conversation, but still. If you want to use acronyms, spell it out the first time you use it, then use an acronym so it's more clear.

And when I think about it, there are at least seven different acronyms for the movie. I definitely should have made that more clear.

I've heard yours and HHG for it - what are the others? I would guess HHGG would be one of the others, but I don't know about the rest of them.

HHGG, HHGTTG, THHGTTG, THHGTG, THHG. There are probably more, but the rest don't make as much sense

You wouldn't like the X400 gateway I worked on at Data General back in the 80's then (look - I was abnormally young - k?).

SLATFATF was our BSoD error.

No dancing dolphins though. Sadly.
