Birthday Post-Mortem
My team lead at work made me brownies - and they're making their way around the office today, after this pretty nightmarish weekend. While the weekend was nightmarish in terms of hours, I really felt like I was flowing into my work, understanding the code as it flowed into my brain.

I don't even see the code anymore - I just see blonde, brunette, redhead . . .

Some people asked me about what kind of presents I got - now, many people that know me also know that I am very hard to shop for, since I don't like crap cluttering up my place any more than I can help it. My aunt got me a vegetable peeler, a whisk, and some squarish neon silicone tiles that gnfnrf insists are used for putting hot metal objects on tables. I'm inclined to agree with him, but they're still a little freaky. My mom got me a digital camera (!), and the results of my lackluster photography will soon be available for the whole world to see. She also found me a Bill Hicks DVD that makes Mr. Hicks look like the lost Bridges brother, and a book called Clean Like A Man - so far, the book is pretty funny.

the silicon squares work as potholders too.

happy (belated) birthday to you.

are there any books that you want to own and don't currently have?

I really don't think you feel like dropping $120 on a theory of programming languages textbook. Seeing as how I don't really either, I think I'm doing okay with the books I have.

Didja like the blonde in the red dress? She's actually a credit card transaction engine.....

I need to get better at spotting those things - I had an embarassing hook-up with a VRML engine once that I don't like to talk about.

But man, you should have seen the IEEE 1284 compatibility on that one . . . god damn.

Silicon trivets! Nice! I got my mother a silicon spatula and a muffin pan and everyone thinks they're slick.
