Tell me something I should be thankful for.
Current Mood: Vaguely depressed

Watch 'A Very Long Engagement', and then be thankful you're not fighting WWI in the trenches. On either side.

You don't have cancer. You're done with college. You're not the only one. Kittens. Quarks. Chuck Pahalniuk. Nina Simone. You're white, you're male, you've got four limbs. We know how awesome dinosaurs are but we don't have to live with them. The future is upon us. Indoor plumbing. Running water. A/C. The 80's are over (kind of. at least the fashion is). Penicillin. Your country isn't getting bombed. The interweb. And a little thing I like to call, 'moral victory.'

Running water?

How the hell do you fit 'moral victory' in there?

Don't you know the 80's fashions are coming back, and will be upon us within a couple years? Start pegging your jeans now!

Hemoglobin, the vital oxygen-attractive compound within your red blood cells.

Also, giant robots!

That you don't work in a David-Hasselhoff-porn-related-industry.

To correlate Lynch's, you should specifically be thankful that heme forces CO$_2$ to bond at an angle, forcing it to bond less usefully due to steric hindrance. Because this means you can breathe.

Halo 2, and friends to play it with.

If you're at home (MN home, not WI home) give me a call.

That sweet-ass job of yours. Nice new-ish car. Roommate you can stand being in the same room with for more than an hour at a time. Independance. No more crippling stomach aches. Family and friends alive and whole. Someplace warm to sleep tonight.

The existence of boobies (hey, I'm thankful for 'em!). The fact that Bill Hicks existed. Rocking out. Being an amazing writer, and overall having an amazing brain (because you do). The fact that you have 4 seasons of Futurama on DVD. TEH INTARWEB. A badass college education. Eggnog. Ska. Music in general. Halo 2. Games in general. Friends you can hang with who make one feel better just be being around them... I know I'm thankful for that. ::hug::

Living surrounded by friends who are only a call or a short drive away at any time. Having a job that uses the degree you worked so hard for. Laughter. People who understand what you're talking about. Scented candles. Living in a state where you can buy Leinenkugel's. Living within driving distance of your family. Having a strong enough will to keep trying to quit smoking, even though it's tough. Seasons. Gourmet jelly beans.

I found myself being thankful for some of the silliest little things this year, and yet, they're still important. In one year or in five, I might not remember most of them, but that won't matter; I'm appreciating them now.
tyshall on November 26th, 2004 07:05 pm (UTC)
I like you. May I add you? If so, will you add me in return?
tyshall on November 26th, 2004 07:06 pm (UTC)
I fear your rejection and feel it is imminent.

Naw - feel free to add me, and I will do the same. I was away from the computer for far too long today ;-)
tyshall on November 26th, 2004 11:15 pm (UTC)
Rahrah! I've added you!
You should be thankful that you're not a hobo who waits until someone is trapped behind another car at a light, pulls down his pants, and defecates with his ass pressed against their window. Oh yes, you should be thankful, MOST thankful, for that.

E-mail. Chocolate. Good dentistry. Things that are cuddly. Language. Rain. Flamingoes. Common sense. The ability to go barefoot, or not.

comics, air, laughter so hard that it makes you cry while you're doubled up in pain, sun rises, sunsets, snowflakes, your fingers, toes (they help you stand and walk i find it incredibly fascinating!), constant income, friends, technology, modern medicine, and a billion other little things that have been mentioned or not.

[cocky moment]

That I think you're one of the coolest people on the planet and consider you a friend! Of course you should feel thankful! ;P

vague depression
Doc, be thankful that there is someone who feels/felt the same way you did on turkey day. I don't feel the need to yack on about things to be thankful for because, to be honest, when I'm seriously depressed, that kibnd of thing just feels patronizing.

you're alive. You'll get through it. Trust me
