Pale rider was on

Still no word about when the surgery is actually going to take place. I spent most of yesterday sifting through my old journals, papers, etc., and burned about half of them last night. There's something liberating about reading the exact same thing, five years in a row, and realizing you don't ever want to remember it.

I watched In the Mouth of Madness with my folks last night - only my Dad thought it was any good. Disappointing.

Since the DVD came out, I think I've seen Fellowship of the Ring about 5 times, making this a grand total of 10 times.

I left my AC adapter for the TiBook back in St Paul. Well, fuck. There goes working on programming - instead, I've been writing programs by hand on paper, like in the good old days. And, as we speak, I'm printing out the entirety of the source code for DrScheme's new back-end - the fuckers just have to keep updating it, don't they?

Well, whatever. Bored, alone - slide me an e-mail sometime. My brothers are starting to wear thin on me.

How many NASA managers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? "That's a known problem... don't worry about it."

My friend Erin says to look at http://www.newgrounds.com for lots of mindless fun. I was thoroughly amused.

I'd also recommend, if you have access to a bookstore or want to get it off Amazon, Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey. It's very long and was quite wonderful. I've read it three or four times in the last month.

Feel better! *hugs* and remember we're all rooting for you!

Yo, Doc - I've just joined the cult here and am making the rounds, spooking everyone with the eerie panoptic nature of the livejournal.

Here's a random question- does the name "Hillary Laurent" mean anything to you? I was working for most of this summer reading standardized test essays, and I sat next to her. She said she was from Park Falls, and I immediately thought "Hey, Doc is from a small town in Wisconsin - COULD THIS BE IT?!?" And lo and behold, it was. She may have been lying, of course.

I'm with you on the "brothers wearing thin" thing. Only with me its more the parents. It'll be great to have this summer mercifully over.

You weren't working for DRC were you? Because then we managed to miss seeing each other while being in the same building . . .

Laurent - sounds familiar. It's not one of the big family names from PF, so she's either recently married, an immigrant from elsewhere, or something entirely else. How old is she? She might be from after/before my time. Also, she might be from Butternut (The name is embarassing enough) or Fifield (The only town in Wisconsin with more cars than people), which are the tinier (microscopic) places around Park Falls. It's like saying "I'm from Dublin" when you really mean "Well, I'm from just outside of Dublin".
