[BG] When You Share My Politics

Some days it's not worth chewing through the leather straps

I had a conversation with a coworker today about why I was "sorta" okay with McCain as a presidential candidate up until he nominated Sarah Palin for VP. Sure, he's crazy, and a maverick, and all that, but the crux of the issue for me is that when the red phone lights up at 3 AM, I don't want McCain's first response to be DYING followed by her picking up that phone. There is no governorship, let alone PTA meeting, that can prepare you for the grand game of thermonuclear war which the Russians have so indelicately dusted off from the top of the credenza. I wanted to shake him and say, "You're smart! You write safety-critical software! You should have enough critical thinking neurons left to see through their partisan BULLSHIT!".

His response was that Obama's a tax-and-spend liberal Democrat, which means that his taxes would get raised to pay for universal underwater basket-weaving Headstart for gay liberal spotted owl-whales who want to take his guns away so they can get married and give themselves universal methadone coverage (or somesuch - I may be exaggerating).
