The worm has turned

A new heatsink, CPU fan, 80mm case fan, 6 fucked-up looking screw-things, and about a half-pound of dust later, it would appear that, for my computer, the worm has turned and emerged from its cocoon as a shark - with a gun for a mouth. Now I have the 2.6.1 kernel, Xfree86, ALSA, and Mozilla all playing nice with each other. Phew.

Yesterday was a "mom-mode" day - bank, groceries, and a Target run. For those TC residents who didn't know, the Wells Fargo on Fairview is now open til 2 pm on Saturdays, 7 pm on weekdays. The birthday party for xcorvis was a lot of fun - now I know what a jade monkey is, and how much more tired I am since I "stepped down" my patches from 21mg to 14mg of nicotine a day.

I didn't end up getting called in for work - which is good, but I still have things for work to do at home. Since I don't watch the Superbowl, that shouldn't be a problem.

One of the wooden pandas in front of our building is now wearing a jacket. Life is weird.
