The worm has turned
A new heatsink, CPU fan, 80mm case fan, 6 fucked-up looking screw-things, and about a half-pound of dust later, it would appear that, for my computer, the worm has turned and emerged from its cocoon as a shark - with a gun for a mouth. Now I have the 2.6.1 kernel, Xfree86, ALSA, and Mozilla all playing nice with each other. Phew.

Yesterday was a "mom-mode" day - bank, groceries, and a Target run. For those TC residents who didn't know, the Wells Fargo on Fairview is now open til 2 pm on Saturdays, 7 pm on weekdays. The birthday party for xcorvis was a lot of fun - now I know what a jade monkey is, and how much more tired I am since I "stepped down" my patches from 21mg to 14mg of nicotine a day.

I didn't end up getting called in for work - which is good, but I still have things for work to do at home. Since I don't watch the Superbowl, that shouldn't be a problem.

One of the wooden pandas in front of our building is now wearing a jacket. Life is weird.

Ah, but is it a wooden jacket?

No - it is a woolen jacket.

Close enough for government work.

At least it's not a shark with a frickin' laser beam attached to its head.

::gets punched in the face::

Ow. I'm sorry. I had to say it, and I knew that was coming. Ow. Now I know how my Animal Crossing character feels when they've gotten stung by about a dozen bees because I've been making them shake trees for the past hour. Jeez.

" new heatsink, CPU fan, 80mm case fan"...sweet! What's the "gun for a mouth"?

I never liked the patches--they stink like dirty ashtrays & leave a gluey residue that I had to practically use a chore boy on to scrub off, along with a few layers of epidermis...had much better luck w/gum. Oh, in case this hasn't already happened to you--DON'T wear it overnight, or you'll get some of the nastiest, freakiest, scariest nightmare you've ever had...Quit for nearly a year & then started again because I went on vacation. Big mistake. might try quitting again sometime this year...

your current user pic is from The Dark Crystal, isn't it? I loved that movie. "Hrrrmmmm!!"

I generally don't watch the SB either, but wanted to this year for the commies. They pretty much sucked--I only saw 2 that were kinda funny--none that would stick or become national ojkes like Bud's "Whassup" stuff a few years ago. But my salvation was that the game itself was really awesome--& I'm not a fan by any stretch...

It's a line from Simpsons - I don't know which episode, only that my friend Cam says it all the time.

Getting the freaky dreams is half the reason to quit ;-) The patch has always worked for me, and the smell is a good incentive (for me) to quit.
