Also: Chain saw, assault rifle, machine gun, tank, smart bombs, cluster bombs, and the zombie fighters most important weapon... the power drill.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 13th, 2004 07:45 am (UTC)
Firearms are coming next - and smart bombs/cluster bombs are not piercing weapons.
Do You Wanna Be Free or You Wanna Be Right?malcubed on January 13th, 2004 08:28 am (UTC)
Yes, they are.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 13th, 2004 08:38 am (UTC)
If you have to choose: are they area-effect weapons or piercing weapons? Feel free to consult D20 Modern, if you're so inclined.
Do You Wanna Be Free or You Wanna Be Right?malcubed on January 13th, 2004 09:39 am (UTC)
Area effect weapons that pierce.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 13th, 2004 10:03 am (UTC)
Fucking semantics
They are also concussive, which would make them bludgeoning; and don't forget that they could kick up shrapnel, which can slash as well as pierce. Hence, why I say "area effect" instead of just one of the above.

Re:
Explain to me again, how I have one arm each that is specialized arbitrarily in how a weapon is perceived to affect someone, and thus can only carry one weapon for each hand?
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 13th, 2004 12:59 pm (UTC)
You can carry as many weapons as you like (and your choice of "three" seems to be without bound) - I'm not guaranteeing that you won't collapse from exhaustion.

I'm making arbitrary distinctions since LJ only lets you make your poll so big.
Do You Wanna Be Free or You Wanna Be Right?malcubed on January 14th, 2004 07:30 am (UTC)
Right. I'm not carrying anything. I'm driving around in an APC with laser sightings for tactical strikes. Inside that APC, I keep a gym bag which contains every conceivable weapon from the entire history of mankind. I pull out weapons needed at my leisure.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 14th, 2004 09:23 am (UTC)
Of course you are - in a best case scenario. But an APC is something you don't currently own, and you will need to fuel it - both of which are two problems you haven't currently addressed.

In the worst-case scenario, this gets disguised by the media as a West Nile or Mad Cow Disease outbreak, and before you know it, the downtown metro area has been changed from urban blight into "home of the living dead". What do you think the chances are that the military is deployed in a timely and responsive manner? That the highways are in anything approaching working order? That there are any working hospitals at all.

I don't think a best-case scenario is realistic in the short term. Long term, it's more feasible.

I chose other in both categories:

Piercing: a boar spear. The extra crosspieces keep the zombies from pulling their way up the spear.

Slashing: A large kukri. Combines the best parts of a knife and an axe. Great for hacking off limbs. NOT A THROWING WEAPON.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 13th, 2004 08:37 am (UTC)
Indeed. Throwing only works for halfling sorceror/rogues.
elfdope on January 13th, 2004 08:55 am (UTC)
In addition to my Sabre and Machete, Phil needs a Scimitar.
Moxie Crimefighter: kittydrowdancer on January 13th, 2004 02:41 pm (UTC)
Fish will take a Falchion and a Cutlass, in addition to her Sabre and Machete.

falchion: like a butcher knife only huge and curved, and it's little brother cutlass to even things out.
Ixen-Baysumbarbarus on January 14th, 2004 10:49 am (UTC)
And it's usually weighted toward the 'tip', meaning extra stopping power.

Flamberge, fauchard, and falchion. Perfect for zombies at three ranges. And no zombie can survive alliteration

a room with two walls of knives on either side, with cow meat in the middle, and a side room.

barring that? a shark. that's a lot of piercing.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 13th, 2004 09:49 am (UTC)
You must be psychic.

You'll see why in about five minutes.

Also -
If only they sold collapsing knife-rooms full of beef in the sporting-good department . . .
masui on January 14th, 2004 02:02 am (UTC)
Piercing: my razor sharp wit. and the razor sharps rocks of mordor.
Hoc Est Qui Sumusdiscoflamingo on January 14th, 2004 10:00 am (UTC)
You just wanted to say that because of John Rhys-Davies.

I don't blame you at all.
masui on January 14th, 2004 02:59 pm (UTC)
well, yeah
masui on January 17th, 2004 08:47 pm (UTC)
red meat right of the bone!
Angel needs no wings - just a duster & a hackysackcanth on January 14th, 2004 03:58 am (UTC)
weapons of zombie destruction
piercing..spear for distance melee, knife for upclose and personal melee, and some sort of harpoon gun for long range pokies.

slashing..all swords...if i gotto go flourentine or if i gotto quickly slash off some arms and legs and then split some wigs, i just need three swords, one of which should be a wakazahi.

Coming to the party late...
...but add a tomahawk or two for this camper. It can be thrown with speed, ease and accuracy, and is fast and deadly in the hand, and can be used for sweeping or hooking attacks in addition to the usualy hacking and chopping.

I am Player #5, BTW.
