For Mal: The Invisibles vs. the Matrix (E2)

From /. : PNC Bank's 12 Days Christmas Index - Economists hard at work to explain complicated interconnections of human interaction through a simplified metaphor. I think it's pretty damn insightful.

EDIT: MPAA to end the pointless and stupid regioning of DVD's. (here)

You know, I really appreciate that Nigel's argument against regional coding involves (in part) the idea that consumers are too stupid to tell the difference between a pirated DVD and a normal DVD when the official release hasn't happened yet.

Of course - these are profit-glutted buttmonkeys of the Highest Order. Their consumers are sheep - and somehow, somebody in the know has to clue them in that they have been lead astray.

It couldn't be because they've had their head up their ass so long they can't smell flowers from shit.

Also - I have a strong suspicion that they're tired of firing employees who explain to them that they're doing the second-dumbest thing in the business world.

So when are we going to one display format eliminating NTSC and PAL thus completely nullifying how cool my dvd player was.

When we have a non-interlaced display format (that doesn't suck) worth standardizing.

to me that begs the question of will my dvd player still work with the regionless dvds, when they start releasing them.

By default, it should. It probably already does.

All three I've had certainly have. The key to remember here is that the problems with playing the DVD are entirely contained on the DVD half of the equation.

Oh, yeah. Also? Fuck the Wachowski Bros (who I suddenly noticed have an eerily similar name to their studio. Coincidence?...). Grant did it better the first time.

If the Matrix was a true story, but only for movie executives, my world would make a lot more sense.

And by "being a true story", I mean "living in vats feeding off the dead in a fantasy world designed by unfeeling machines".
