An exercise in IMDB Links
gnfnrf and I tried in vain (again) to see Fahrenheit 9/11 at the Har-mar 1-3 last night. We also immediately axed thoughts of going to see Troy at the Har-mar 4-11, on the grounds that if we kept up our current plans to see F911 (and then saw something else), we would eventually have to watch Mean Girls.

When we went to see it on Friday, the line was stretched around the theater. So we gave up on F911 and saw Dodgeball, which was considerably more entertaining than either of us thought it would be. Cameos were well-done (Lance Armstrong gives the best sports celebrity cameo in Hollywood history), jokes and gags were fast-paced and unrelenting, and the story is substantially more involved than we thought (like a strange cross between Baseketball and Old School). And the part that never gets mentioned in any of the previews is that Alan Tudyk (of Firefly fame)  plays Steve the Pirate, a gym regular who thinks he's a pirate. Is he a pirate? Or just a wannabe? You'll have to see the movie to decide for yourself . . .

The line you saw stretched around the theater was probably the line for people who had tickets waiting for seating to begin, not the line for purchasing tickets. That's what it was when we went on Saturday. (We bought tickets online, as had most of the people there.)

Indeed - which means we have to plan in advance instead of making it just a spur-of-the-moment thing. It was also difficult to tell which was which - and nobody was talking.

Alan Tudyk?

As pissed as I am at him for playing the robot in what appears to be nothing like Asimov's vision, I may still have to see Dodgeball now anyway. The casbah is rocked by him.

Just saw the f-9/11 2 nights ago. It will piss you off. Guaranteed.
