Sauron, ESR, and Outsourcing
My favorite prediction for 2004? Sauron will rise and cover all the lands in a second darkness. Sauron's response? "Don't count on it." Then he says something about financing a boy band. I shudder at the thought.

In other news, digging through the reliquary articles of Eric S. Raymond (or ESR, or Tri-lettered Evil 0v3rl0rd of Open Source #2), Doc discovers that the line between insanity and genius is blurred yet again. ESR's writings on mysticism and religion are one thing (pretty cool, to say the least, but a little out there) - his writings on the utility of mathematics is better for completely different reasons.

And this article is perhaps the best example of why you should (or should not) outsource IT jobs. Why does it take so long for stupid people to get smart? You can also read the original /. article I got the link from, which will likely be even more full of mindless blabbering about the effects of globalization on the international workplace.

ESR is also in a movie about why he uses Python, which, coincidentally is available on the python.org site somewhere.

Yes, one would imagine that Python would be available from python.org.

Sorry, that was just too easy.
I'll go to my room now.

Indeed, Python should be available from that site, but I was referring to the Movie in which he talks about why he uses Python.
