I had a nightmare last night in which I had to move out of every apartment I had ever lived in AGAIN (and some other apartments I didn't know I was living in now) - by THURSDAY. Crap! My team accidentally came in first in the MN0PQ6 (the sixth Minnesota Puzzle Quest)! This means we have the honor of designing the next one, which, honestly, should be hella fun. This song is in my head on repeat: http://hypem.com/search/O%2BS+Lonely+Gh "A controversial activist, he paid from his own funds for ads to have Utah allow horse-race gambling, and he was actively opposed to the banning of cockfighting. He has campaigned in Arizona and New Mexico against laws banning cockfighting." Sometimes, after watching an episode or two from Seasons 3 or 4 of Battlestar Galactica, I'll get "All Along the Watchtower" stuck in my head. Theory: The Internet has finally reached the right combination of users that I can no longer tell the difference between "intermediate ESL speakers" and "lazy as hell English speakers" on any given forum. My spending at least three hours a day speaking with Czech engineers over IM may have something to do with this, but I'm not sure. Thoughts? I can not find it conveniently, and it vexes me. I am horribly vexed. I had my every-other-year optometrist visit yesterday (yay new prescriptions!), which included a fitting for contact lenses. I have never worn them before, and sometimes I feel like they would be more convenient than glasses. This may have been a lie I told myself. CONvergence Goers: our panel for "Campaign CONvergence" is at 7:00 PM this Friday in Atrium 6. See me face off as Dr. Evil in a town hall meeting against Dr. Horrible and Dr. Strangelove (with Special Guests) as we contend for The Presidency*!
I am a huge fan of truly awful movies. Many of my friends have also mastered the distinction between movies that are "good", and movies that are "awesome". So how did I not hear about this movie until now? I'm trying to remember how to blog again. Not that I was ever particularly good at it, but I have to get these training wheels off some time. Stupid database migration. I know I've talked to some of you already, but if I haven't talked to you yet, here's the deal: I will be in your neck of the woods the week of May 25-29. If you would like to see me while I am there, please let me know. The title of this article is all for you, baby: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/801 In the last decade since switching to Linux, I can't recall seriously playing a game on my computer that was not: I learned a new favorite phrase today: "second-order incompetence". It is the condition of being incompetent at recognizing your own incompetence. |
